Windstar Legend.

180 Degrees from Ordinary: Join Me for an iPhone Photography Adventure at Sea

This past year, I had the incredible opportunity to speak onboard Star Legend, one of Windstar Cruises’ elegant all-suite yachts. For those unfamiliar, Star Legend is a small, luxury vessel designed for intimate, immersive travel experiences. With a capacity of just 312 guests and a nearly 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio, she delivers an unparalleled level of service, comfort, and access to hidden-gem ports that larger ships simply can’t reach.

The itinerary I was on was nothing short of breathtaking—sailing from Lisbon to Dublin with stops in Porto, El Ferrol, Bordeaux, Le Palais, and St-Malo. But what made the journey even more special was the ship itself. From the moment I stepped aboard, I felt an immediate sense of familiarity. It reminded me of my earlier days working with Renaissance Cruises—an intimate, upscale cruising experience where every detail is designed to make you feel at home while discovering the world.

And then, something magical happened. My first Windstar experience was love at first sight.

Onboard, my role was to teach guests—within the warm, inviting setting of the ship’s small theater—the fine art and science of iPhone, cruise, and travel photography. My presentation, dare I say, was enthusiastically received. People were eager to learn how to elevate their mobile photography, document their travels with skill and artistry, and see their surroundings with fresh eyes.

Throughout the 10-day voyage, one thought kept bubbling up: How amazing would it be to host my own iPhone photography cruise with Windstar? Say, 100 avid iPhone photography enthusiasts, to somewhere special and exotic.

So here’s where you come in. I want you to start saving your pennies and dollars because this is happening. Soon. Imagine a voyage where photography isn’t just something you do—it’s the very heartbeat of the experience. Where each sunrise and sunset is an opportunity to master light and composition. Where each port-of-call offers new textures, colors, and stories waiting to be captured. Where you’re not just taking pictures—you’re crafting visual poetry.

A Windstar iPhone Photography Cruise isn’t just about sailing in luxury; it’s about seeing the world differently. It’s about slowing down, being intentional, and immersing yourself in both the journey and the craft. The beauty of small-ship cruising is that it fosters connection—not just with fellow travelers but with the landscapes, cultures, and fleeting, in-between moments that make travel so profound.

And the best part? I’ll be there with you every step of the way—offering hands-on guidance, real-time feedback, and curated lessons to ensure you return home with not just memories, but an extraordinary collection of images that tell your unique travel story. Plus, you’ll have a front-row seat to my own photographic process, as I share my work along the way.

If you love cruising, if you love photography, if you’ve ever wanted to deepen your creative practice while exploring the world in unparalleled style—this is your invitation.

Windstar’s tagline says it best: 180 degrees from ordinary. That’s exactly the kind of experience we’ll create together.
