My journey in photography began in a studio. Surrounded by strobes, softboxes, and an array of modifiers, I learned the delicate art of shaping light.

Those formative years instilled in me an appreciation for precision and control.
Today, as an iPhone photographer, I decided to revisit the controlled studio environment, and it felt both nostalgic and exhilarating.
This experiment brought me full circle but with a modern twist.
Armed with the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Nanlite Compac 200Bs, I set out to create portraits that merged the intimacy of iPhone photography with the polish of studio lighting. The results? Beautiful!
The stars of this session were four remarkable women, all from the same loving family.

Their energy, connection, and natural grace made every frame a joy to capture. Working with them reminded me of why I fell in love with portraiture in the first place. These aren’t just photos; they’re glimpses into their personalities, their stories, their bond.
One of the most rewarding aspects of using an iPhone for portraiture is the dynamic it creates between the photographer and the subject. Without a bulky camera and viewfinder separating us, the experience becomes more conversational and intimate.
It’s just me, face to-face with these amazing individuals, making direct eye contact, sharing laughs, and capturing moments that feel genuine and unguarded.
The editing process was delightfully simple. I did a minimal touch-up using the Photos app—nothing more.
I believe in keeping the images true to the moment, allowing the natural light, textures, and expressions to shine. The iPhone’s capabilities paired with the soft, even illumination of the Nanlite Compac 200Bs brought out every detail beautifully.
