Brand Images

When you are on assignment, as many, if not most, commercial shooters here, on this feed, would testify, whether you are using a big, dedicated camera or, like me, a small, iPhone camera, you never just show up and randomly shoot whatever and wherever you want. Never, ever!

If you did, you would have a very short commercial career in photography.

Your task, as a commercial shooter, is almost always governed by some sort of shot list, brief, or storyboard.

Granted, you are generally hired because of your style.

But make no mistake about it, the subjects, scenes, and scenarios you often point your camera at, are not your own.

In the Hospitality sector, which I continue to work in, companies and clients are after brand images.

In hospitality photography, brand images are carefully crafted visual representations that embody the essence and identity of a hospitality brand.

Brand images evoke emotions, highlight key aspects of the brand experience, tell a story, and differentiate the brand from competitors.

As is my workflow habit, usually the last project action I do, is edit together a brand folder of what I consider to be the project best-of-class.

Here’s a handful of selects from my recent visit to Salamander Collection
